Wee Sleep Out Event
Carluke High School is supporting Social Bite’s campaign to end homelessness in Scotland.
A team of S6 pupils and staff is organising a Wee Sleep Out event for S1 pupils to raise awareness of the issue and much needed funds. The event takes place on Friday 6 December, from 8pm to 8am.
The sleep out will be on the floor of The Street, within the school building, with the option of, and weather permitting, a short spell in ‘Cardboard City’, which will be set up in the courtyard next to The Street.
The only items pupils require to bring are a warm jacket and a sleeping bag. We will source sleeping bags for those without. Supper and breakfast will be provided. Parents/carers will be required to sign their child into/out of the event.
Pupils will be entertained with a range of games and activities interspersed with reflection on what it means to be homeless in Scotland.
We intend making this a ‘phone-free’ event, which is more reflective of being homeless, and ask that pupils leave phones/devices at home ‘for one night only!’ Contact with the school will be through the normal school telephone number should parents require to contact their child overnight.
This is an excellent opportunity for our youngest members of the school community to make a big impact.
To ensure we have sufficient staff supervision in place, we need an accurate and early indication of numbers. Please return the consent slip attached and make the £5 payment via ParentPay before Friday 15 November to confirm your child’s participation. Any issues using ParentPay should be directed to the school office. On receipt of consent slip and payment, an EV6 consent form will be issued for completion and return by Monday 25 November.
We are very excited about this event and look forward to a fun, thought-provoking and successful night of fundraising.
